Lighting was not good as there had been rain and the skies were not bright. I used the built in flash on the camera.Equipment

I loved the colour of the bird and it looked quite elegant, even with its back turned to me. I wanted to catch the plumage of the bird.Editing
I cropped it a little as the bird was in an enclosure and so I wanted to get rid of as much fencing etc as I could. I also increased the darkness to give it a black background.In my camera bag

Trying to capture wildlife or any animal shots the animals don't co-operate and so you have to wait and during that time take lots of images hoping that one will turn out to be what you wanted. I wanted a frontal shot of the bird showing its feathers, but it had its back to me and because of the restriction of the enclosure sides I could only get its back, but then it turned its head and started preening, not what I had hoped for, but nevertheless gave me a good shot. You need plenty of patience when capturing wildlife and animals.
