I took this photo whilst on a trip to England. Although originally from London I moved to Northern Ireland five years ago. I'm self taught and took this photo about three years ago, maybe 18 months after first getting a camera. We were wandering around and found this place by accident. Fortunate accident.Time
The sun was setting. It was time for us to get back as we had quite a journey but it was so beautiful and peaceful. We also had the added advantage to be honest of being able to drive as I'm disabled and blue badge holders were allowed further in than able bodied walkers. I was in England for quite stressful reasons so the tranquility of this moment was something treasured.Lighting
I had to have the aperture open to let light in so tried using my tripod. Being a new photographer my tripod wasn't great, my disability means I don't have a lot of strength and I think I eventually flung the tripod away in disgust and managed hand held lol xEquipment
At the time I was using a Nikon D5100, I tried to use a tripod but I got all tangled up. That's all I used. No flash.Inspiration
I loved the reflections more than anything. There is nothing more peaceful than seeing reflections in water. I was going through a troubling time and I found the scene in front of me soothing.Editing
I shot this in jpg. I didn't know raw existed at the time. I used a slight coloured filter I found in photoshop. I was very beginner at that stage. In my camera bag
These days things are different. I have a D610 and D750 in my bag together with a range of lenses. The most important ones for me to have with me are the 70-200, a nifty fifty, a few prime lenses, my macro lens sigma 105mm and a decent ring flash for macro work plus a couple of speed lights, rechargable batteries, memory cards.Feedback
I never worry too much to be honest. I've tried double exposure and that can help with sunsets and sunrises but where there is still light to work with then just make sure you use a lens that lets in plenty of light. It does help to use a tripod in these situations as having the slow shutter speed can cause camera shake. Maybe even use a remote, that will help eliminate camera shake even more.
