Congrats. Symmetry, perspective, mood, and of course ... that color. Magnificent work.

Location
The photo was taken at Leesylvania State Park, near my home, in Virginia.Time
This was an early morning sunrise, shot back in July of 2013. I was initially concerned with the sky not having a single cloud. As a landscape photographer, having clouds is a sure fire way to add drama to any landscape.Lighting
The sun was just starting to rise off in the distance. I was in a hurry to get my tripod out and camera settings locked in. The pink in the image was very faint to the human eye but at a 15 second exposure, it really stood out and made this shot for me. It was like watching someone paint the light across the sky.Equipment
I shot this image with a Canon 6D with a 24-105 lens @24mm. I used my heaviest tripod and set my camera to aperture priority mode at f/14. I used the built in 2 second timer and started the exposure.Inspiration
This location for me is an early morning sanctuary, for good reason. The beauty and simplicity is what gets to me. There are no distractions from every day life or the tick-tock and grind of busy schedules. It's just me, my camera and the beauty that I can step into, whenever I can find the time. That's what I love. That feeling of pure relaxation and inner peace as the water ripples and crashes around. The warm air in my face and the freedom that comes with it.Editing
The processing was simple and straight forward. A few small adjustments to the highlights and shadows and set my white and black points. Other than that, I let nature do the work.In my camera bag
My bag is pretty simple these days. I haul around a Canon 6D, usually with a Canon 24-105L lens attached, but occasionally I like to get the Tamron 70-200 f/2.8 out and see where that takes me. There's usually a flash unit tucked away in my bag as well. You never know when you may need to snap a portrait. There's also a 50mm f/1.4 always within reach.Feedback
Get up early. It's tough and we all hate to leave the warm bed behind, but if you want the light you have to chase it. Other than that, invest the time in learning your craft, especially from behind the lens.
