What great image so pristine one suggestion I'd crop just a little more of the blue sky I think it would make this image pop more

Location
This image was taken on one of the most stunning sand dunes in the impressive Namib desert. A colossal towering dune. Well worth a climb!Time
We set of bitterly early from our campsite outside of the park and reached the beauty of a dune at about 6AM. The sun was just about reaching the golden sands. We set of for the climb, at this stage the sand was still cool to the touch. An hour later as we neared the summit the sand burned under our feet!Lighting
The sun's rays were gentle at first but gradually increased in strength across the sands. One side of the dune was caught in the shadows which created a stunning effect on the virgin sands.Equipment
This image was taken with a Canon Eos 50D, 17-85mm lens. It was shot hand-held.Inspiration
The patterns! Just look at the dynamic lines in the sand. Mesmerizing. I couldnt wait to get a picture of it but I wanted a focal point in the image and that was my girlfriend. This dune may never have been trodden on before. Pure magic!Editing
Normally there is always some touch up of the levels and some contrast adjustments but I try to keep it too a minimal because I truly try to reflect what the reality was. Thats important for me.In my camera bag
I took this image with an Eos 50D but since I took that swimming with me in the oceans of south america (no, I didnt do that on purpose - a freak wave lifted me off my feet and mashed me against a cliff) I have now traded that in for a Eos 5D Mark II which is an absolute beast of a camera! Beyond that a telephoto lens is always part of my kit so I drag around the ridiculous weight of the 100-400mm. My favourite lens currently however is the 17-40mm. The landscapes I can capture with that little beaut is fantastic!Feedback
Much of photography comes down to opportunity and sacrifice. There are amazing images out there waiting to be taken, not just by professional photographers, but you have got to be willing to sacrifice something for it. Whether that means getting up at ridiculous o'clock to catch that first ray of sun or hunkering down in a sleeping in the snow at -10 degrees celsius waiting for that snow leopard to appear (who never will). You got to recognise an opportunity and go for it. It will pay off eventually!
