The photograph was taken in the Brecon mountains going over the top road to Neath. I had been trying to get photos of the ponies for months, they are usually very skittish and vanish as soon as you appear, but luckily someone had put out loads of apples for them and they must have been hungry as they were tiucking into them. They didnt seem to mind me and my friend photographing them.Time
It was early afternoon about 1/2pm. we had been out all day taking photos of waterfalls etc and decided to go home over the top road for a change.Lighting
It was a very overcast/dull day, a good day for taking waterfalls but not so good for getting wildlife but the camera seems to have coped well with the conditions.Equipment
I used a Canon 5d iii, standard 35-105mm lens, no tripod but i did lean on my car for one or two shots with a mini beanbag. I also had my 300mm canon lens with me too.Inspiration
I have wanted to take photos of these ponies for months now and have been going up there regularly to try and catch them.Editing
I just cropped them and lightened them a bit - nothing else.In my camera bag
I usually travel light and go equipped for whatever i know im taking that day. Ive always got a tripod in my car. Ive got an old light sensor gadget (cant think of the proper name for it???) i use to see what the light readings are when im using manual mode. Ive had it since i was 18 and it was used for film really, but i still use it a lot.Feedback
You need a lot of patience for taking wildlife photos and putting food out seems to help
