We don't often get snow that lasts too long in Sedona, Arizona - so when snow fell on January 1, 2015 I was sure to head out to the trails!Time
This is one of my favorite images. We had snow the first day of the year and that night the moon was full as the clouds broke up. I shot this at 9pm under the light of the moon.Lighting
I wanted to capture the moving clouds as well as the stars for this, so I set a long exposure at night... The moonlight lit up the landscape as though it were day. I loved every minute of it.Equipment
I shot this with a Canon 5D Mark II, 14mm Rokinon lens and used a tripod.Inspiration
I live in one of the most beautiful places on Earth - I'm inspired every day by the landscape, red rock formations and the beauty of Sedona. My inspiration comes from nature.Editing
I never over-process my photos. I like to keep them as real as possible. Most of the time you'll see that I only work on highlights and shadows. I'm not a bg fan of the 'plastic landscape' = I like to keep it real.In my camera bag
I carry a Canon 5D Mark II and Mark III, 100-400mm lens, 24-105, 14mm and 17-40mm pretty much everywhere I go. I also never forget my iPhone 6s, olloclip and GoPro. You never know what you'll get when out in the field!Feedback
I never ever set up a shot. I experience moments. If you want to sit and wait for the perfect shot - I'm all for that, but personally - I like to experience life and my photography in a different way. What you mostly see with my work is a quick hike or trek to someplace I maybe had in mind or stumbled upon. I never take for granted the moments I have in every day. Carry your equipment with you wherever you go if you can - and keep it simple and light. Then you'll never miss the shot. Play with exposure and timing and don't be afraid to experiment!
