Location
I took this photo in a small coastal town in south central AlaksaTime
This photo was taken about 10 in the morningLighting
This shot was taken in natural lighting on a partly sunny dayEquipment
I shot this photo free hand with a Nikon D300S camera with my Sigma 150-300 mm telephoto lens. I believe I was at focal length 150.Inspiration
I have always taken great pleasure watching and taking photo's of Eagles, so whenever I get a chance I get my camera out. On this day there were several young eagles on this beach so I just waited for an opportunity to get an action shot of this eagle in flight. I was very fortunate to be fairly close to this eagle coming in for a landing on this rocky beach.Editing
I try to keep my photo's as natural as possible, since I shoot in RAW I always do the minimal post processing as possible. I mainly use LightRoom for my post processing. I usually just boost the color a touch by adjusting the vibrance with a little saturation. If I need to I will sharpen a bit also.In my camera bag
I usually carry my 50mm f2.8 Nikon, my Nikon 70-300mm Lens, cable release along with my light tripod. I have 3 ND filters, circular polarizer, spare batteries and SD cards.Feedback
If anyone has the opportunity to photo Eagles, take your time observing their characteristics and behaviors so you can be ready to get that nice action shot. Always be sure your camera speed is set high so you can get the photo crisp and in focus. Enjoy the experience and take a lot of shots so it increases your odds of getting that one great shot.
