Great shot, it's so good to see these guys when they're doing well. My wife and I volunteer at the Magnetic Island Network for Turtles - MINT

A critique is requested but there is nothing but wonderment at this shot. It is truly one of the best shots I have seen in my 3 years on Viewbug. The shades of colours, the clarity and the action happening in this shot is mindblowing. I assume you have a really good underwater camera?

I am one of the directors of a Turtle Hospital. To take care of the animals we rely completely on public donations. We run the facility with about 60-70 volunteers that work hard every single day. Since i started to take images of our patients, document how we find them and when we release them we managed to get a lot of media attention, resulting into more funds so we where able to constantly improve our facilities and take on more sick and injured animals. I wanted to really highlight the turtles, show how their health improves and give them some character.Editing
Yes i do cross processing between Adobe Lightroom CC and Photoshop CC. For sharpening i use Topaz Detail, then i do a lot of Dodge&Burn, plus painting some colour and remove backstcatter etc.In my camera bag
I always have two cameras with me, and i mean ALWAYS. Usually the Nikon D800, D810 or D750. The lenses i keep in my back are the Nikkor 24-70f2.8, 70-200f.28, 50mmf1.4, Tokina 10-17 and the Tokina Macro 100f2.8. I usually have a motion slider for time lapses and some GoPro 4's with me, also the SB910 flash, sometimes studio flashes, and then of course my underwater gear. yeah i wish i could travel light ;)Feedback
Well i think i am in a pretty unique position as i am working with marine life both in the wild and in care. You need to know which animals are ok with a camera and which ones you should not disturb. We do have extremely friendly Sea Turtles on some local reef where they are used to people. The literally follow you - giving you endless opportunities for photographs. The importance is to work on the animals terms and not to force it just for the sake of an image.
