Thanks! it's the 17-55 Nikkor. I'm quite pleased with it. :)

Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken near my home, the town of Idrija in Slovenija (Europe), just next to one of many natural swimming spots on Idrijca river.

Time

It was late in the afternoon on a hot summer day. We were almost done chilling in the natural swimming pools of river Idrijca, when I grabbed my camera and decided to explore the surrounding area for some nice shots.

Lighting

Since there was just the right amount of natural light coming from the sun, setting behind the hills in the west there was no need for artificial light. The subject was also not moving, which gave room for a bit longer exposure time.

Equipment

The photo was shot by Nikon D7000 and one of my favorite lenses - the Nikkor 17-55mm. It has nice bokeh which in this case helps to bring the focus of the observer to the eyes of the subject.

Inspiration

It was not planned in advance. I was just lucky to discover this lovely frog when I went for a short walk around a picturesque natural swimming spot. I was hoping for a few nice shots of the river and got this as a bonus. Lucky me!

Editing

I used some light post-processing to enhance colors. Everything else was done with the camera and lens.

In my camera bag

I usually carry with me my trusty old Nikon D7000 with Nikkor 17-55mm, Nikkor 70-300mm and Tokina 11-16mm lenses. There are also a spare battery and a tripod in my backpack.

Feedback

Choose the time and place wisely. If you plan on shooting in natural light try doing it near sunrise or sunset (the golden hour). The light in that period is just hard to beat. If you are looking for frogs, you have good chances of finding them in damp places or just after the rain.
