Location
This photo was taken at Lake Ontario in Newcastle, Ontario, Canada.Time
It was a beautiful evening.Lighting
The lighting was nice. The sun was low enough in the sky to provide the right amount of light without being underexposed.Equipment
Canon PowerShot G12, handheld, no flash.Inspiration
I was there photographing birds initially and then my boyfriend and I saw boats starting to head out on the water. That's when I concentrated on getting some shots of them.Editing
The sky wasn't as I wanted it to look, so I played with the saturation a touch to bring out more blue in the sky. This I feel added the right touch to the photo. In my camera bag
I had my Canon PowerShot G12 and now my Canon EOS 60D.Feedback
Have patience. I have found that early morning and late afternoon-early evening are prime times to photograph this type of shot to capture great color. You don't want over/under exposed images. Low ISO is always great. Sometimes it's just plain luck to capture that perfect moment, and it's different for everyone.
