I can't remember exactly, I shot that 15 years ago, but judging on the angle of the shadows, I'm going to guess about 4 pm.Lighting
All about the right time and the right place, just got lucky! A few days before or after, and the sun's direction probably would cast a whole different light on the tanks. I saw the shadows and workers on the roof, and within 10 minutes of waiting, they walked down the staircase and made my shot!Equipment

A D800 and zooms from 14-400. Also half a dozen flashlights for my light painting. Also never leave home without a film camera, usually and Hasselblad 500 or Mamiya 67ii.Feedback
Be patient. Shot this stairway and light patterns for 10 minutes and just wasn't right, wasn't exciting, and the scale was impossible to perceive. I kept waiting and the workmen eventually came down the stairs, which took the shot to another level.
