Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken on Donner Lake in Truckee, CA.

Time

This was in the morning while the lake was still calm around 9am.

Lighting

I really focused on matching the light in the water and the landscape to immerse the viewer.

Equipment

This was taken on a GoPro 3+ Black, mainly because of the waterproof features.

Inspiration

I live showing energy in images. This captures the feeling of a morning swim or paddle and I love that.

Editing

Yes, the main thing with any GoPro shot is to correct the lens distortion. From there I imported it to Lightroom and made adjustments.

In my camera bag

I always pack at least three lenses; a wide, medium, and telephoto usually from 16mm-200mm. This covers me well. Now days I use a 6D for most stills but shoot film on a RED.

Feedback

Use a fast shutter speed to freeze the action of the water. Have fun! Be creative!
