Behind The Lens

Location

The Photo was taken outside a Hotel name Bluten, Chennai INDIA. Actually I was totally unpredicted to get this frame. In fact the photo itself captured in a large Portico.

Time

I have to say about the time here in other words it added a great essence to this frame. I think I was so lucky to get the perfect time and perfect subject together. It was 5.23 PM December 17 2014.

Lighting

How I can forget to say about Lighting. The Main light, Fill light, Key light everything is Sun (Master of Light), although it was evening where I saw my subject face directly hits my the Sun light which created more artistic look, luckily I had a white wall as a background which was so effective. I realized always the Natural light will popup the beauty of everything.

Equipment

Not really very expensive gears. This photo was shot in NIKON D5300 with Nikkor 50mm 1.8G. A fantastic camera and a lens by Nikon.

Inspiration

I can only say the OLD MAN face. Because I found something very special, the wrinkle on his face, a story telling eyes, black and white hair explain a lot about his nature. He was actually so down to earth which was so impressed me. He might be a watch man for that hotel but for me he reassembled like a new model.

Editing

Obviously Yes, I did processed. We know all cameras have limitations but we photographs love to push the dynamic range to our photographs which can be done with software. Here I shoot in RAW and Imported in Photoshop CC and did some adjustments in Camera Raw like clarity, sharpness, Highlights and shadows. Then with Photoshop CC I expanded the detail by duplicating the layer applying Highpass Filter which was blended to the original to create depth. And a small retouch up for his eyes to show the feel which was actually existed.

In my camera bag

I have a Lowpro 500AW which is be always fully loaded with my equipments. I usually do have my 2 bodies Nikon D5300 and Nikon D750. I always have a Wide lens 24-120mm f/4 for my Full frame and 50mm 1.8G for my crop body. And a Two Speed light Simpex 333PRO and Nikon SB700 with wireless trigger (2 transceiver and 1 transmitter), A intervelometer for my landscape and architecture photography, Some filters, Nikkor 18-55mm and Nikkor 55-300mm is a secondary lenses.

Feedback

First I always tell my students, See the world in Love and Respect. Because when you start looking everything in love, your mind and heart starts to think in different perspective, Which will help to create better composition. You know Composition is more important in Photography. The way you feel, the way you see, the way you express will definitely improve you creative skill. In this case I got attracted instantly after seeing his face with full of scars, his expressive eyes and black and white hair, plus more essence gave by Sun light on his face. As I said I always look my subject in love and respect, that was the key ingredient to accomplished this frame. Also I knew this photograph will speak much more If I do this in Black and White. Not only to this photograph. Each and Every photographs created by me is Full of Love and Respect. Thank you my dear Friends
