I"m not sure if I'm more impressed with the colors or the boy's expression. Great shot.

Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in 2007 on Manatoulin Island Ontario at the annual Pow Wow. We camped just off the perimeter of the park where the Pow Wow took place. It was a beautiful day and there where at least 3000 dancers and Audience to witness the cultural and historical significance of the Pow Wow.

Time

It was late morning just before the event began and the dancers where doing the final touches on their costumes and I caught this shot of the boy prior to his joining all the other fancy dancers.

Lighting

It was a challenge getting the right lighting as it was overcast but I used EF 70-200mm f-2.8 L-USM and got the shot.

Equipment

EF 70-200mm f-2.8 L-USM and got the shot. No Tripod Canon EOS 7D

Inspiration

Just love the the culture and the costumes and was lucky to have been allowed to take the photos.

Editing

Minor post with lighting tweaks and contrast.

In my camera bag

Canon D7, EF-S 17-55mm f-2.8 IS USM,EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM,EF 100-400mm F4.5-5.6L IS II USM,Speedlite 600EX II-RT Flash, Rollei Tripod, assorted screw mount lens filters, assorted compact flash cards.

Feedback

Tripod for longer distance in lower light conditions, image stabilized lenses and lots of patience.
