Location
This photograph was taken in a greenhouse at Michigan State University during an Orchid Society event.Time
It was during late morning, I think, with natural light, but displayed against black velvet.Lighting
I prefer shooting my floral subjects so only a single flower or section shows prominently against a blurred background.Equipment
Canon D50, with a 70-300 lens, handheld.Inspiration
I've become obsessed with floral photography (along with a multitude of other subject matter.) Although, there was no major inspiration, this became very special as my Godfather-Uncle & Aunt chose it for over their fireplace in their new home, as well as a pillow. They are now gone, but the photo remains in that home.Editing
I do some post-production, but not much more than achieving a look that pleases me.In my camera bag
My D50, with a battery pack, a Canon 18-200, and a Canon 70-300. I have other lens, which are basically space takers. I recently switched over to a Canon Mirror less M-50.Feedback
If you don't have macro lenses, a zoom like the 70-300 works beautifully.
