Behind The Lens

Location

I was brave and packed up my studio equipment and trekked out to a client's home. She has (with the twins) 3 children under the age of 2 and was not sure about travel yet, so we made it happen! :)

Time

Late afternoon around 4 pm.

Lighting

I used natural light from her windows and two soft boxes with static lighting for fill. I prefer static over strobe. I have clients who are epileptic, so I adjust my equipment to fit the needs of all.

Equipment

Canon 60D, 18-135 mm I have since upgraded :)

Inspiration

I love newborns and was excited to work with twins. This was a last minute prop I found on sale at a local hardware store - yes, it's a planter!

Editing

Yes. I use PS/LR. I adjusted lighting slightly, touched up skin, and wallah! Beautiful babies to work with! I do have some go to actions I use more now and have created some of my own to for my style! :)

In my camera bag

Now, my equipment has changed. I generally carry my 5d Mark ii, 24-70, 50 mm prime, 70-200, & my fisheye. I also keep my backup camera handy and always use a battery grip! :)

Feedback

Twins are different than any other newborn. They don't always want to sleep at the same time! Be sure you have lots of time and patience and can do great composite work if necessary! Practice, breathe and LOVE what you do!! :)
