I absolutely love this photo! It's so simple but it has a great concept. Good work!

Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in my bedroom. I placed a black back drop behind me and positioned myself so that the light from the window was Striking the left side of my face .

Time

As far as I know it was around mid day when the sun was strongest.

Lighting

As I said I had the light striking the left side of my face. I wanted it to hit the brush also and have the right side of my face darkened.

Equipment

Nikon d3100, Tripod, 50mm f/1.8G lens, a paintbrush and a remote shutter release

Inspiration

I love selective colouring and have seen similar photos to this and I wanted to challenge myself and see if I could do it.

Editing

I post processed in gimp workshop using layers and masks to do the selective colouring. I then touched up the photo slightly in lightroom.

In my camera bag

I always carry my 50mm lens and cleaning cloths in my bag! Obviously along with my camera. It depends on the shoot generally I'll always have my Tripod with me you never know when you might need it!

Feedback

It looks a lot harder than it is. This is a perfect example of a photo that looks impressive but is so easy to do. There are loads of tutorials online showing selective colouring techniques. And don't be afraid to experiment!!
