I think that was a very good idea, Ruwan, and probably made for a better picture with mom holding baby closer.

Animal mums are so very loving and caring that humans have to learn from them!

Location
At the Yala National wildlife reserve. It is in southern dry zone of Sri Lanka.Time
This was around noon with harsh sunlight.Lighting
I was fortunate the harsh mid day sunlight was diffused by the tree canopy above, scattering the light nicely for me.Equipment
This was while walking in the park. Taken hand held with my Canon 500D, and a kit lens.Inspiration
I noticed this mother anxiously observing us as we walked by. She made a gesture and immediately the baby ran to her. As I walked a little closer her arms came protectively around the baby. I stopped took the photo and backed away. It inspires me that I have not seen animal mothers neglecting or abandoning their babies. Cannot say the same of us humans, unfortunately....Editing
Yes even with the canopy above the background was too bright. I burned out the highlights a bit. A little sharpening and contrast was also added. In my camera bag
At the time I had only a Canon 500D with a kit lens. Noe my bag explodes with equipment.Feedback
Watch for nature at work. In mammals (specially monkeys and apes) you can capture great emotion.
