Location
Pueblo River walk, Pueblo ColoradoTime
This shot was taken at 2amLighting
The lighting was difficult because of the use of Tungsten lights surrounding the river walk giving a yellow feel to everythingEquipment
Nikon D810 with 28-300 Nikor lens. This was an 8 second tripod shot at F4Inspiration
I love the movement of water and how it softens during long exposures. The cotton appearance offsets the sharp lines of the rock.Editing
Nothing was done to the shot except the use of fill light to bring out some of the shadow areas and white balance to resolve lighting temperature issues. I prefer to leave my shots unmolested as I can to achieve the result of a clean image that is true to nature based in reality. In my camera bag
I have a Nikon D5100 with an 18-105 walking lens that I use primarily for its light weight and ability to take my full frame lenses to 1.5 magnification. I carry a D810 as my primary shooter with a 28-300 working lens. I also have an 18-70 F2.8 zoom and a 70-200 f2.8 zoom for fast shots of birds and other low light shots requiring the faster speed of the f2.8. I rarely use flash but have a speed light that is still in the delivery cellophane one day I will use it. I carry a generous amount of cleaning equipment, memory cards and water to carry me through a long day of shooting.Feedback
Practice, practice, practice. This shot was off the cuff and was a sweet trial with a new camera. It isn't so much the equipment but the shooter. My camera is a professional grade but I am amateur grade with regards to being a novice shooter. (I think so anyway). Experimentation is the spice of photography and I shoot all types of pictures at all times of the day and night. Composition is something that can be learned and by the way this is not my favorite shot. I posted it and people like it in spite of the fact I don't with regards to some of the other pictures I have of the same bridge. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and if you like what you do keep at it because persistence pays off. Shawn Wolfe
