Behind The Lens
Location
With my wife and my kid we went to our Provincial Capitol, I asked them to pose with the Capitol building behind them as background. Being a self taught photographer, I preferred a candid shot on portraits or group pictures. So, while they were preparing for a pose, I took pictures on them expecting to capture the best candid moment without disregarding the composition and framing with every shot i made.Time
I always considered the time of the day in taking my photos outdoor as I have learned from the pro's like the "Golden Hour". This photo was taken around 3 pm and the sun was behind my back giving me a good lighting for my subject.Lighting
As what i have learned, photography is about lights. So, I consider lighting is very important that it affects the mood of your subject. Either you want some dramatic mood, a happy mood or any mood you want to portray. With this photo, an ambient light compensates well with my subject.Equipment
This was shot on a Canon 60d, with an 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS II kit lens. The settings I used was f/7.1 at ISO 100 and a shutter speed of 1/100 sec. No other equipment was involved.Inspiration
I always like taking candid photos to capture emotions happening in a single moment that will never happen again the same way as it happened before. Though it was planned for a posed shot, but in between the preparation and the final pose some good things might happen and should never be missed, so I made some shots already.Editing
I always took RAW pictures though I know it will cost a lot of my disk space, but the good thing is I can do a lot of post processing with it. With this photo i took, I made only minor processes. I add a little bit of contrast and increase a bit in its vibrancy using the Adobe Lightroom software. In my camera bag
For my APS-C Canon 60d DSLR camera, I have always with me my favorite canon 50 mm f/1.8 II prime lens, 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS II kit lens and my 55-250 f/4-5.6 IS II lens. I think this is a good start for an aspiring photographer.Feedback
We can never turn back time nor repeat the moment the same way it happened. A picture records the moment and has a lot of stories to tell. A candid shots plus the application of the basic photography gives as an appealing picture conveying a message that will draw emotions affecting its viewers. Don't get tired in taking pictures and learn from what you are doing.
