The U.S. Marine Corps War Memorial, sometimes called the Iwo Jima Memorial, is in honor and in memory of the men and women of the United States Marine Corps who have given their lives to their country since November 10, 1775. It's located in Arlington, Virginia, in a park adjacent to the Arlington Cemetery.
Thirty-two foot high figures are shown raising a 60-foot bronze flagpole. The flag at the top of the pole flies at full mast 24 hours a day, 365 days a year by presidential proclamation.
The memorial hasn't changed in all the years since it was dedicated by President Eisenhower in 1954. Only the weather changes. It's an awesome place.
I took this photo in the 1990s as a film print and it's scanned.

Wonderful capture. On the black & white just pop up the colors of the flag and the gold line on the bottom. Love it !!!!!
