I was on the way back to the hotel and I could see the weather was starting to close in, the effect on the lights was what grabbed my attention.

Behind The Lens

Location

I was visiting London with my wife, we were staying at a hotel that overlooked London Bridge

Time

Taken at eight in the evening on the 21 September 2014 on the north bank of the Thames.

Lighting

Cloudy evening with a little mist

Equipment

I didn't have a tripod with me, this shot was taken as hand held with no flash. Manual program used, f6 1/5 sec exposure ISO 2000 using the kit lens 18-55, focal length was set to 19mm.

Inspiration

The light from the bridge looked really eerie due to the low cloud.

Editing

Lightroom 5, cropped the photo and brought up the shadows a little. Very little tinkering .

In my camera bag

I do always carry a tripod with me now! Cleaning kit Spare battery 20 mm prime lens fish eye lens 50-200 mm zoom Spare memory cards

Feedback

Always keep looking at the subject from different angles as the light changes, especially if the weather is influencing the light, mist and low cloud can add to a shot where floodlighting is used to light a subject.
