The image is taken on Lilla Torg (the Little square) in Malmö, Sweden We usually don't get much snow in the south of Sweden, white christmases are far between. The big lamp is a part of the Christmas decorations and it "wanders" around town to finally at the end of November be placed on Lilla torg.Time
Sunset image when walking around the city.Lighting
November sunset, it was a cloudy day, and the clouds finally broke up just before the sunset.Equipment
Shot with Canon 70D with a EF-S 10-22mm, nothing more.Inspiration
I was just walking around town on a daily promenade to see if the Christmas lights were being put up. Past the big lamp and the square and accidentally turned around just to see the lights being switched on and the sunset coloring the sky. Bit of luck involved, there you go, you need some luck too.Editing
I believe thos is a 3 image HDR (could be wrong) very slightly tonemapped just to get the sky right and not to lose the contrast in the image.Just treated in Lightroom after the tonemapping. This image I just wanted to accentuate the sunset sky and the lights on the square. In my camera bag
Well this varies, but I have Canon 6D, Canon 70D and a Samsung NX11. One of them is allways with me. If I intend to shoot for HDR I usually grab the 70D with a EF-S 10-22 just for its 7 frames a second. Otherwise I carry the 6D with EF 24-85 and a Samyang 14mm. If I'm travelling light (ie in town with the family) then I pick the Samsung with 16 and 30mm pancake lenses.Feedback
Most of my images are from the city of Malmö, Sweden, where I live. An industrial city going through the change from industrial to university and tourist city. Just walking (and bicycling) around the city on different times of day, gives a huge chance to capture those special moments and the special light that sometimes accur. Just don't forget to carry a camera, it usually pays of, even of it's sometimes a pain in the butt to carry it on your shoulder the whole day. I believe persistance is the key to good images, and of course practise. The more you shoot the more you get to know your equipment and to train the eye to reckognise good light.
