Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in a bar of one of Las Vegas hotels.

Time

It was a lazy late afternoon, nothing much to do, stopped by a random bar to spend some time and of course had my camera with me.

Lighting

Here my goal was to show a short 'timeout' in the middle of crazy Las Vegas day. So I wanted to convey fairly dim light of the insider the bar, yet show how much is going on outside of the hotel and so I have allowed very high lighting coming in from the outside

Equipment

It was shot with Nikon D600 24-70 f/2.8 lens

Inspiration

I am usually not really into street photography but this calm scene in dim light yet in the middle of one of most vibrant cities in the world has certainly got me as a picture that well describes the feelings and the whole setup.

Editing

I did some light processing in LightRoom to emphasis the mood of the scene mostly be means of adding contrast.

In my camera bag

I usually have with me my main primes 85mm f/1.4 and 50mm f/1.4. I sometimes bring my 24-70mm f/2.8 but only if I feel I am going to be in the situation where I am going to stay too close to the subject where 50mm won't work.

Feedback

I would advise to always carry a fast prime lens.
