Behind The Lens

Location
This photo was taken at Haifoss in Iceland.
Time
We travelled from Reykjavik at 6am to make sunrise at 10am on the top of the amazing valley.
Lighting
The soft light of the Icelandic winter gave us a huge window of shooting time it barely made it up but just enough to bring out the colours at the top of what can only be destined as one of the most amazing places I'd ever seen.
Equipment
This was shot using my Canon 5D MkII on a tripod using my Lee Big Stopper 10 ND filter enabling the long exposure and the movement in the cloud.
Inspiration
Haifoss was always my number one destination to make in Iceland I'd seen some shots of it before and wanted to get there to take in the enormous scale of the 400 foot waterfall.
Editing
The post processing involving brushing on some high pass for sharpening and adding some extra kick to the shadows.
In my camera bag
Canon 5D MkII Canon 500D Lee filters including Big Stopper, 0.9 hard grad and Polarisor TriggerTrap release system
Feedback
The key to any photography is to get out there, be adventurous, explore but be prepared to shoot all hours of the day to capture the magical light.
