You have such vivid colors in all your photos and I like how you add an element of poetry to enhance the subject's essence. Striking!!

Behind The Lens
Location
This photo was taken outside a small town in Washington called Pullman. The area has a lot of wheat farmers and this used to be and old silo for storing the wheat. Behind the silo you can see the harvested golden stubble from the wheat and the shadow from the building.Time
The sun was just setting and clouds where wisping (I'm not sure thats officially a word but just go with it) past. In front of me a hill was starting to cast a shadow so that only the top of this old silo was illuminated by the golden evening light.Lighting
The yellow light from the golden hour was just what I needed to play off of the already present yellows and warm tones in the building and the ground. It created a nice contrast against the cool blues in the sky.Equipment
I used a Cannon Rebel mounted on a tripod for a long exposure.Inspiration
This building is wonderful in the way it mimics the buildings in a Dr. Sues book. The way the top of the silo sits over the bottom part they look like different building stacked together like from a game of Jenga that a couple of giants might have been playing.Editing
To expose for the sky and the building I took an HDR image using three exposures at two stop intervals. Without the extra dynamic range the bottom of the silo would have been shrouded in shadow (and mystery perhaps?). I wanted to squeeze every drop of texture and detail out of the shadows and every blue glimmer from the sky.In my camera bag
Lets start with the most important thing (are you guessing camera right now?) Its a granola bar...nothing ruins a good picture like being hungry and impatient. Beyond that I have my scratched, muddied Cannon Rebel 2Ti. I have 3 lenses, fisheye, 18-35mm, and a 50-100mm. I always carry my tripod...its a pain but its worth it.Feedback
My advice to capturing this sort of picture is not to set out to capture an image like this. What I mean is when I go ONLY to take a picture I have a lot less success then when I got with the mindset to experience the place. Listen to your senses, be still, feel the wind, the warmth of the light...if those inspire you then make a picture, if not just absorb the moment.
