Location
This photo was taken during an outside going-away ceremony for soldiers deploying to Afghanistan at Fort Hood, TX. The person holding the baby is my own son and the baby is my two-week old grandson.Time
Early afternoonLighting
Nothing intentional since this image was taken in a spur-of-the-moment fashion.Equipment
Since this capture happened unplanned, I used my iphone 8. Which explains the poor image quality of the picture itself.Inspiration
The realization of how special this moment was for all of us and the heavy-hearted mood. The fact that my oldest child was on his way to fight a war on the other side of the world combined with the joy of him being able to meet his first nephew (my first grandchild) who was born only two weeks prior to the event. The "roughness" of a man in uniform holding such a tender, fragile new human deserved to be captured. A very emotional moment.Editing
Simple and very basic touch-ups (softening). In my camera bag
Canon Rebel T6S, tripod, lenses, UV filters, etc.Feedback
As far as taking pictures of people goes, capturing emotional moments almost always results in good images. Depending on what it is you want to express, try to always capture the raw energy of the moment vs. trying to "stage" or post the "subject".
