My chestnut thoroughbred mare Grace shares an intimate moment with her pasture mate Denali. Grace is afflicted with an uncommon hereditary systemic connective tissue disorder (the acronym is dsld-ESPA) of which little is known and even less understood. Grace is one of the horses that contributed DNA to a research project in the hope that scientists can isolate a genetic marker for the disease. Because we can no longer ride we share our time together doing photography. Grace was the inspiration for Red Mare Beware Photography and is one of my favorite photography subjects.
