Awesome photo!

Behind The Lens

Location
This small critter was spotted underwater in Curacao.
Time
This had to be taken mid morning with the sun shining brightly overhead to help with illumination.
Lighting
Use a double flash and sunlight to add brightness. The light diminishes the deeper you go underwater, but this was at about 30 feet down.
Equipment
Underwater camera with twin strobes set to fire past the subject not directly at it.
Inspiration
The beauty and uniqueness of underwater life is worth capturing for others to experience. You are literally weightless underwater and that experience with the life only seen underwater is worth the risks.
Editing
Only sharpening.
In my camera bag
Underwater camera and two underwater flashes set to the side of the camera. In my dry land bag I use a Sony Cybershot with integrated GPS. As I travel all over the world, I love the GPS telling me where I was when I took that picture as well as the structure in front of me.
Feedback
You must first be a certified diver and skilled in excellent buoyancy control so you don't damage the frail beauty of the underwater world. You also must keep a keen eye open for the little creatures and not only the large ones. The smaller the creature you look for, the slower you will dive and hence enjoy the experience without rushing.
