Location
It was taken just outside a small Welsh village called Betws-Y-Coed.Time
I was around midday if I remember correctly.Lighting
It was an extremely sunny day so I was lucky and didn't really need any assistance with the light quality. The surrounding trees offered some help in reducing any glare on the water itself.Equipment
No lenses, flash, tripod etc, it was taken using a basic Canon Powershot SX10is. I shot a number of colour images before switching to mono to capture some moodier shots.Inspiration
This is one of my favourite places in North Wales, such a pretty little spot outside the main village. I always enjoy a climb down to the riverbank here and wanted to capture the bridge in particular. I was fortunate that day that it had been dry in the area for a few days so the water was low enabling me to carefully balance in the middle of the river on a small rock.Editing
Very little processing was needed, I ever so slightly adjusted the contrast, but essentially the final image is straight from the camera. In my camera bag
Spare batteries, cleaning products, spare lense caps as I am notorious for always losing them. Right now I am getting used to a new camera so I have a second lense, and depending on what I am shooting that day I might have a second camera with me so I try to keep it all compact and as light as possible.Feedback
My best shots have all been spur of the moment ones, I try not to go out with a firm idea or plan and just go with the flow. I like to explore and find things and places that are of interest to me, so what I like might not appeal to anyone else, but that's part of the fun and it keeps my attention. One day I can be taking photos of a beach or nice sunset, the next I can be in a cemetery or climbing around in derelict buildings or taking photos of graffiti. It's good to have variety. This bridge photo came from a day where I'd been doing the usual tourist traps, I was wanting a little break from the crowds somewhere secluded, so headed to this spot to chill out and managed to get a great shot.
