The photo was taken in the back porch of my parents house. I found the cat sitting nearby when I entered the scene. She apparently likes being outside and was eager for some attention. I walked over to her, and she was already looking up at me.Time
The afternoon sun was above me, and it was a beautiful day outside. I think it was maybe 2 pm. The sky was clear, so there was plenty of sunshine .Lighting
That was the easy part. The afternoon sun was bright that day, for there were no clouds to be seen. When I edited the photo, I darkened the contrast a little, and also brightened the colors as well.Equipment
I used my older camera, which was a Sanyo VPC digital camera. It is a compact, light weight, touch screen camera which takes good pictures.Inspiration
I have always been an avid animal lover. I was eager to find new animals to take pictures of, and my adorable and recently adopted cat just happened to be outside waiting for me. I was eager to take some photos of her.Editing
When I have pictures of animals to work with, I usually try to get a closer shot of the animal. I first cropped in the photo, partly to view her pretty eyes better. I also darkened the contrast, brightened the colors, and some small tweaks to make it look better. In my camera bag
In my bag, I carry my older camera, a Sanyo VPC-E1600TP, a compact digital camera, to save for backup, should I have any problems with my newest camera, a Nikon Coolpix L840, which is my favorite. This camera takes great quality photos, and is easy to use.Feedback
When capturing photos of animals, especially those that you care for, don't try to manipulate them into doing what you want them to do. Just follow them while they are free to roam, and work with them as they are, and be ready at a moments notice to snap a photo. I have found better shots, more candid, graceful pictures, when just paying close attention to them and snapping photos as I see them. Those kind of pictures are better quality and tell more of a story when you can see what is really going on there with the animal.
