Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in the bush-veld region of South Africa on a reserve by the name of Lissataba

Time

The photo was taken in the early morning while on a game walk to a waterhole

Lighting

It was taken during the golden hours so low lighting was perfect and not too harsh

Equipment

This shot was taken with a Canon 70 D and 100 mm macro lens

Inspiration

The contrast between the color of the beetle and the plant made me think the shot would be one to remember and it turned out pretty OK

Editing

Bot much processing was done just a small crop and processing using DPP

In my camera bag

Normally the 70 D and a 6D with a selection of lenses depending on the shoot focus. Flashes and reflectors remote releases are an important inclusion as well as a tripod. In the case of walks in the heat of the bush I do not tend to take a lot of kit

Feedback

Always be prepared. You will be amazed what you can see and photo opportunities exist on the way to a shoot before you get there.
