Behind The Lens

Location

It was taken in my home suburb of Northcote, in Victoria, Australia.

Time

I can't recall exactly, although it was probably in the morning.

Lighting

Natural light.

Equipment

My Nikon D5000 with the kit 55-200mm lens.

Inspiration

How could I resist this image? This wonderful, vigilant, ginger cat sitting behind her owner's window.

Editing

A little bit of high definition processing to bring up the details in the window, curtain, and the cat's fur.

In my camera bag

My wonderful Panasonic Lumix FZ1000. And no, I'm not sponsored by Panasonic or any other camera company. But wish I were!

Feedback

I wish I could impart something profound under this heading. My advice is rather simple - grab your camera, and get out there into the world and take images of things you like. I don't worry about camera settings. I tend to leave my camera on one of its basic settings - auto or one of its scene settings. I trust my camera to do the right thing in terms of exposure and focus. You see, I grew up with film cameras and worked in the dark room to process my film and images, so working digitally is a breeze.
