Location
This photograph was taken in my home studio in Singapore.Time
This was taken in the late afternoon.....Lighting
Just natural late afternoon light, diffused by a cloudy sky coming through the window which I was directly facing in the photograph.Equipment
This was shot on Mamiya AFD II with a Leaf Aptus 65 digital back. No flash was used.Inspiration
This was a particularly low period for me - having lost a loved one. I was meditating on the recent loss and prayed that the world would find a cure for various illnesses. I wanted the image to look "deathly". Reduced most of the Reds, increased contrast and Gamma correction. Shadow/highlights were adjusted till the image looked haunting....In my camera bag
The Mamiya with digital back is cumbersome for on-the-go outdoors. That set-up is only taken out on commissioned shoots. These days for everyday street use, I have with me a Canon 5Ds with a Sigma 24-105mm f/4.0 DG OS HSM Art Lens.Feedback
There is drama from a one directional light source as in this image(45 degrees to the camera). It gives harsh shadows and helps to push out the textures which I wanted from the leaf and water droplets...
