What a perfect representation of Ophelia's death!

Location
This photo was taken at a locally kept Rhododendron Garden. Typically featuring a nice big pond, with eels and all. I approached the volunteers, who were happy to let us roam. I gave them an extra donation to the donation box that day!Time
This image was taken at about 2pm. We had shot all over the gardens before snapping the 'hero shot', here in the pond. As soon as we saw that soft painterly darkness that cloud coverage brings, Ann touched up the make up and Beck jumped in. Mind you, this was not warm water. The time of the day wouldn't have mattered if the model wasn't an absolute trooper. It was not far from raining at this time.Lighting
The beauty of shooting at any botanic garden, is that you can always find somewhere to shoot, no matter if it is extreme daylight or muted gloom. Very versatile for conceptual work!Equipment
This was shot on a Canon 5D Mark II, 50mm 1.8 lens and thats it.Inspiration
Not only 'Ophelia' but Art Nouveau, The Renaissance, Norman Lindsay. Paintings in general and making my conceptual imagery like a real life painting. This image is a personal favourite because the painting vibe was achieved with very minimal Photoshop.Editing
The only post processing in this was to the curves and a slight colour balance, the skin was spot healed. I wanted to touch it as little as possible. In my camera bag
I am a budget shooter, that's for sure. I always have a 50mm lens and newly purchased a 35mm art lens. Newly purchased a tripod too (my chair was getting hard to carry). It depends on if I am shooting in the studio or on location, as to what is in my bag. I pack very lightly on location with a reflector and a flash as back up. I have been know to make a smallish beauty dish out of an old globe and some foil. My funds (or lack there of) helps me to achieve my Macgyver skills for my equipment bag.Feedback
The atmosphere of this image is due to full cloud coverage. I think this added to create the velvet and soft tones. The biggest thing here was just trying to get everything I styled her with, to flow like water itself, that way the subject lends itself to the environment. Don't be afraid to channel Macgyver.
