Early afternoon.Lighting
The light was great that day, a little overcast witch gave off some brilliant soft light, however it was still bright enough to shoot at a high shutter speed without cranking up the ISO.Equipment
I shot hand held, the high shutter speed took care of any camera shake. No flash, I was shooting on a Cannon 5d Mark II with a Canon EF 200mm f/2L IS Telephoto Lens.Inspiration
I love shooting sports, any sport. I was hired to shoot this swim meet. I never shot swimming before so I did some research on swim photography saw the classic shots of the butterfly stroke head on, however not a lot of photography of the freestyle stroke. I had the great access to this event I could go anywhere. So I had to learn which side did the swimmer breath from and then get as close as I could and time my shot when they turned their head to breath. I wanted a tight shot to shot to show the raw power of this stroke.Editing
Just the typical post with Light Room. Balance out the exposure and colors. In my camera bag
It really depends on the gig. I am a jack of all trades and I will shoot sports, weddings, landscape, product, and family portraits. I will always carry my Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM Telephoto Zoom lens, I will also carry a Cannon 50mm f/2.5 and last a Cannon 85mm f/1.8.Feedback
Dial up that shutter speed to 1/1500 and put the ISO on auto. I try to keep the f-stop around 5.6 to 6.7 to keep the depth of field. A fast lens will help, other than that be patient and keep shooting.
