Location
This photo was taken in my way back home from work. I was in the train that connects Buenos Aires with La Plata. I took it standing in the second wagon from the front, pointing my camera to the last one.Time
Well the shot was made around 6 pm. It was a rainy afternoon, all grey, and the wagon was getting darker, so I thought it was perfect that the lights of the train were on while the light from the outside helped a lot to avoid shadows in the distance.Lighting
It was hard because of the train natural movement, but shoot at 1/60 allowed me to capture the very back of the formation. I wanted the light as it was so I shot paciently.Equipment
That time I had my Nikon D5100 with a 50mm and no flash or tripod.Inspiration
That day I went out from my office work early and I had the chance to get to the station with extra time until the train departed. The rain was lovely, I made some shots in the platform. The heavy rain followed me during the trip, I was very comfortable despite of the cold. I don't like umbrellas, but most of the people were with one on their hand, and wearing raincoats. The scene was a mass uniformed, like a squad armed with umbrellas. Why, if each of us is so peculiar, can we have extremely common behaviors as a mass? When I saw trough the lens in that autumn afternoon I saw a lot of people without identity. Prisoners behind the bars of urban rules, slaves of the city.Editing
I've simply converted the photo to grey scale, and vignette it to reinforce the corridor. In my camera bag
I'm always with my Nikon D7100 and a 50mm lens, you know, the simple check: id? phone? camera?.Feedback
The urban exploration is fascinating. Places with a crowd of people gives you a lot of possibilities to play with them. Challenge each situation, find the contrast in the usual, play the personal as mutual.
