This photo was taken at Garden of the Gods Park in Colorado Springs, Colorado.Time
This was taken around 6:00 A.M. I was driving through the park, trying to find the perfect spot for the perfect shot. I pulled over to check my map of the park, again hoping for my Nat Geo moment. It just so happened that I pulled in front of this beautifully creepy tree, and caught the birds circling behind.Lighting
My lighting was all natural, catching the sun coming up.Equipment
My wonderful husband had just bought me a Nikon Coolpix L820 camera the night before, since he knew I was starting to really love photography and my cell phone was no longer cutting it. I was beyond excited to try my brand-new, awesome camera (I've since graduated to a more advanced camera, but still in the Nikon family). I did not have a tripod at the time, so this was a hand-held shot with an aperture of f/4.3, an ISO of 125, and an exposure of 10/10000.Inspiration
Garden of the Gods is such a beautiful, serene place. No matter how many times you visit the park, there's always something new to see; to photograph. Whether it's snowing, raining, dry, cold or warm (sometimes in the same day; this is, after all, Colorado. If you don't like the weather, wait five minutes..it'll change), you always find your perfection.Editing
Actually, the only post-processing I did was boost the saturation level a bit.In my camera bag
My Nikon 3300 with two lenses..18-55 and 55-300. I carry my magnifiers, tablet(to quickly load my photos from my memory cards), tripod, filters and extra battery. I try to go as light as I possibly can, due to my incessant need to climb every mound, hill or mountain to see what's on the other side and how I can capture whatever I find. Colorado has everything from mountains to plains, sand dunes to ski resorts, and I want to experience and photograph all of it!Feedback
Sometimes the best photographs are captured by accident, sometimes by luck, and sometimes by hard work. Find the type of photography that you love; fashion, landscape, wedding..and follow your bliss! Read as much as you can on photography; research on the net, talk to other photographers, take a class. Above all, love what you do, and do what you love. You don't need expensive equipment. You just need passion.
