I took this photo in the bush by our house. It's probably one of the better koru photos I've taken.

Location
I took this photo of the fern frond/ koru around the bush at our home in Ararimu.(south Auckland)Time
The time of day it was taken would have been around mid to early afternoon.Lighting
There was nothing overly special about the lighting as such . It was just a nice day with moderate sunshine , I saw the fern & thought that would make a great photo & I was right.Equipment
I used my Pentax K10D camera & a 70-210macro zoom lens with a skylight filter.Inspiration
I was out for a walk one Afternoon on a mission to take some photos when I spotted this fern on my way back to the house & the conditions looked right for a photo .so, I took the photo & was pleased with the result.Editing
I don't really have much in the way of post-processing apart from what is on my computer . which offers some of the basics .i now use inpixio editing for most of my photos. sometimes the editing is over done by some folk .In my camera bag
Equipment in my bag is generally my camera, my Flash , batteries for the flash , a pen & notebook two -three lens' , a tissue to wipe the lens if needed. 60-300 macro zoom lens, 28-80 macro lens, 70-210mm zoom lens polarizing filter.Feedback
My advice would be to give it a go even if you've never done anything like it before. try a bunch of different angles to the subject .You don't always have to use the best or latest camera to capture a photo like this one . you just need to be confident in your own ability & have a good eye for what you are photographing. I've taken some photos with a 35mm film camera that have turned out amazing after getting them printed. Take a few practice shots to gauge your lighting & everything else is all good.
