I've seen some pretty clever reflection photos that were inverted with the water on top. This one may just work that way too

This is a reflection shot without using a software program this is natural. Our local river can be like glass at night or in the morning. My timing is good with these shots.

This was taken just below my place on the river. It was just like glass that evening. There is two places where I can go to get a reflection shot just depends on the evening, or in the morning sunrise.

Behind The Lens

Location
I live in Prince Edward Island, Canada the photo was just taken just below where I live.(Rusticoville, PE Bridge) where I take a lot of
Time
The photo was taken about 5 or 10 minutes after the sun goes down then in beams up red colors from the sun. I always tell people who I meet at the beach to wait longer before going home. Then they all thank me for staying no knowing it was going to get better. Some times it does go red just depends on what the sun does and how much cloud there is.
Lighting
I always tell people to stay a little longer after the sun goes down that's when it gets more interesting. Depending on how dark the cloud gets after the sun goes down.
Equipment
I don't use a tripod I park on the same side as the sun. I use the opening of my window on the car to steady my arm or hand. I do keep a tripod in the car incase I do use it. I keep only a few lenses I just have a Nikon Coolpix P610 60x my old camera I had was a Canon Power shot 30x is with my new one is a 60 makes a world of difference on distance. I have a red and off pink lens I like to use it gives be more time at night instead of using a flash. Always take a cover so you don't get your lens dirty finger prints.
Inspiration
I just love taking mirror shots they make the sunset just a little bit better. It also depends on the night
Editing
No
In my camera bag
Camera, small mini tripod it's great for using on top of the car. Tripod to big to put in the bag I carry lenses, and a must is to take extra batteries and sd cards. I don't know how many times I missed taking either or one of them.
Feedback
I never leave until 5 or 10 minutes after the sun goes down I would of missed to many shots. Location, location and location does make a difference. I generally have three of four place I like to go depending how the sun is in the morning or sunset is in the evening. The one thing I missed is getting a camera with a higher F stop like 22 and not 8 makes a difference as well. In the past 5 years I must of taken over 200,000 photos that's why a had to get a new camera. Have over 5 terabytes hard drives and still have 130,000 photos to weed threw. I hope that helps!
