Location
This photo was taken on one of my yearly trips to the Farne Islands in Northumberland, UKTime
This picture was taken in the early afternoon of a beautiful sunny day.Lighting
The lighting was perfect on the day with beautiful blue skies which really helped with the shutter speeds which enables me to capture this image.Equipment
This was shot on a canon 7D with a canon 400mm F5.6 lensInspiration
I had this picture in my mind but it is not an easy one to capture as these birds are like bullets. I scouted round the islands to try and find the perfect location for both the light and also as to the flight path of the birds bringing in the eels from the sea. I eventually found the perfect spot and the challenge begun. I mus of taken hundreds of pictures to get this perfect picture.Editing
I was lucky enough to capture the image as i wanted to so there was only a bit of sharpening and cropping to be done.In my camera bag
I have used the Canon 7D for many years and i find it a fantastic camera. I have recently sold a lot of my equipment that i no longer used to enable me to purchase a canon lens which was always a dream of mine. It may not be the ultimate lens but i find the 400mm f5.6 a great lens for wildlife and i love it. In years to come i hope to upgrade to the more expensive lenses but until then this lens is just perfect for what i need.Feedback
All i can suggest is to try and choose a great day to go (not always easy i know with the British weather). Always look around the area where you are working and source out the best location of your subject. The rest is time and patience....if you do this you are very often rewarded with great images
