Location
Connected with my house I built a balcony with a roof, which I partly took away for I wanted the weather be a part of my shots. This balcony I built till a studio with lights, reflectors and flashes. But when I shot this shot I did not yet have these things. From my kitchen window I am about 3 meters away from my compositions where wild animals can come.Time
In this time of augusty I often go out the day before to search for my ideas. In this case I hoped to find a large mushroom where a squirrel could stand on or sit under. It was late in the morning and very cloudy. I had not much light for my shot.Lighting
My studio is built with the opening towards the sun. That makes with the rotating of the sun during the day I have always backlight. That makes that the front of my subject is always in the shadows. For the squirrel stands between the sun and meEquipment
Always for these shots I use the d7100 nikon and the sigma 150-500 mm and a good tripod. The d7100 is good for this work for it 51 focus points. The sigma lens I do almost never use it between 450 mm and 500 mm, because by shooting I almost always move my camera a little because the squirrels are always moving and the bad light made me often shoot on 100 or 1/125Inspiration
To life in the nature nexto a forest makes my choice easy for me. I am the type who get boured very quickly that is why I bring new ideas every day and hope it fit the animals who come. The squirrels come often for a couple of minutes. I am working very hard to make a living of photography. As a builder, shaman and artist is photography perfect. It combine all the things I like.Editing
Little sharpening I used. The mushroom is a very slimy one that is why I put out alot of high lights. I had to very careful with chainges, because I shot this with 640 iso and that is the max I shoot animals with because I do not want much grain. In my camera bag
My gear chains every time depending on what my goal is. The last months I take my canon eos6d with a 28-105 mm I thank it is. This camera I won in a contest and is my most expensive equipment. The qulity of the lens is amazing and I can shoot with 50 iso. My talent is not landscapes. I won some prices, but I shoot much to little. My bag is fylled with cleaning gear , battery and tripod.Feedback
First, back focus button, that made that my quality improved a lot. Single point focus and always everything on manual. autofocus and sometimes manual focus. Dream and look around what I have. Everyday I think of new ideas depending on what I can found. In this case a slimy mushroom and moss. For the rest is it waiting and have the perfect light on the perfect moment. Thank you for all the votes and the interest in my work. And thanks viewbug for there amazing concept.
