Behind The Lens

Location

I shot this portrait in my livingroom. I do not have a studio so I use the one blank white wall and all my photos are shot against it. There is not much space but I try to achieve the best capture possible. It is always a bit of a challange.

Time

It is an interior portrait so that time of day is not very relevant ;) but it was one lovely evening with my friends who also assisted in the creation of this portrait.

Lighting

In this portrait I wanted to use a different light as I usally do which is one big light from side with the octagonal softbox. This time I put the flash above the model. It was really just an experiment and fortunately it turned very well. This is still one of my most favorite portraits I did so far.

Equipment

I used my Sony A350 with 18-75mm lens. Picture was shot from hand and I used Photon Millenia New 600w flash with 90cm octagonal softbox without any diffusion. My friends also assisted to make the hair move so the picture will by more dramatic and add some motion to it with some cardboards we found around the house.

Inspiration

It was not really a matter of inspiration. It was more a matter of admiration to my friend and roommate whos portrait this is. I think she is very beautiful and I like to work with her because she is so open to any new ideas and very collaborative and that is the kind of people I like to work with.

Editing

I did the light post-processing like curves, saturation etc. And the retouching of course. There was not very much to do because the pictures looked already amazing in the camera.

In my camera bag

I like to say about me that I am a studio photographer but I don´t say that one day I won´t start shooting in exteriors.

Feedback

If there wasn´t the wonderful people around me while taking this photo it wouldn´t exist now. So my advice is to find the right people to work with. Right makeup artists for example and start collaborating.
