On a weekend date with my wife in Jackson, WY we got up early and shot the sunrise at Schwabacher's Landing north of town then headed out Antelope Flats road to the Northernmost barn on Mormon Row. We were there about 15 minutes before the light hit the barnTime
Sunlight hits the barn about 20 minutes after sunrise and the neat part is that due to some obstacles, the other barn just to the south of this gets the light about 20 minutes after this barn so you can get two for one on the light!Lighting
There were a number of photographers waiting for the light to hit, some had been waiting for an hour or more and right when the light hit a young couple was wandering in front of it taking phone pictures. Needless to say, the crowd let them know their mistake. Seriously though, when there are thirty tripods set up you just don't walk in front of them.Equipment
Canon 6D, Manfrotto 290 tripod, Sigma 50-500mm lens to help flatten out the image (wide angle tends to make the mountains look small)Inspiration
One of my favorite spots and it's so easy to get to. I always try to get the shot here but the weather is always the wildcard in Wyoming.Editing
I blended three exposures in Photoshop because the foreground was pretty dark despite the incoming light.In my camera bag

Get there early and claim a spot, especially on weekends. If the weather is not cooperating just wait, things can clear up suddenly and you may be left with perfect clouds amongst the peaks. There are so many spots to photograph the Tetons along HWY 89 that you almost can't fail. If you can get into Teton National Park be sure to hit Oxbow Bend turnout ESPECIALLY if there is no wind, the reflection off the water is fantastic.
