Location
Golden Gate Bridge of San Francisco.Time
This Photo was taken around 5 pm, it was perfect timing to get the sunset lighting.Lighting
I wanted to capture the sunset effect which was blending with the clouds; causing a dramatic effect. it was blending with color the iconic color of the bridge.Equipment
I was using My canon 40D with a 17-40 lens, setting it on a weight supported tripod; with an ND4 filter.Inspiration
As a student who is living in San Francisco to study, I knew that one day I won't be able to enjoy the beauty of this bridge, so my goal was the capture an iconic photograph that I can proudly say that: I spent few years of my life in there.Editing
I took the photo using raw format, did some editing using Adobe Photoshop to correct the white balance and enhance the colors, and adjust the contrast to get the full effect of the colors of the clouds, The Bridge, The Sunset. In my camera bag
My camera is: canon 40D My lenses are: Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 IIFeedback
The Golden Gate Bridge is the most iconic thing of San Francisco, to get an outstanding capture of it follow these directions: Go across the golden gate Take the second exit than go back to the way going back to San Francisco Take the last exit before the Bridge entrance Take the right turn heading upwards There will be free parking spaces available Park the car then take a small hike towards the top of the hill From there you will get the same view of the bridge of the one you see in the photograph. Tips: Bring a tripod which can be weight supported because it is a really windy area. It gets really cold and windy, so bring multiple layers of clothing. Bring a wide angle lens to capture the whole scene. The best time to do this photo-shoot is half an hour before the sunset and allow yourself an hour to be there to get the perfect light and blends of colors that you prefer. ND filters can come up very handy. The place has a different feel every 30 minutes, it could be sunny, and then a bit of clouds, and before you know it the bridge could be covered with clouds.
