I took this photo out on the beach on the Spit I Homer, Alaska. He was quite the poser as he sat there watching everything but me. This shot was the one time he looked at me. Because of this Eagle, I now refer to them as Reincarnated Super Models!Time
This was around mid day as he sat enjoying the weather on the Spit. It was a great day for eagles!Lighting
All Natural Light... outside shot.Equipment
The camera used was a Canon T2i with a 70-250 lens with IS. I only use tripods for Aurora in the Winter months. Otherwise, I always have it in hand, at the ready! You never know when they'll move or you'll walk into a shot that needs immediate attention!Inspiration
Eagles are my inspiration! They are what kept me here in Alaska! I came here just to try it out, see what Alaska had to offer... and the wildlife here, well you trip over it! And the eagles are just amazing!Editing
I do very little editing. Just cropping, rotate (I stink at lining up my horizons lol) and maybe some contrast or saturation of color...I never have owned Photoshop or used it on my photos. I prefer to keep them as close to as I saw them, though recently, I have been having fun creating with apps.In my camera bag
Just my camera, lens and maybe some extra filters (star filter, etc.) oh and extra batteries and SD cards!Feedback
With wildlife... treat the with respect. Don't do anything to make them change their behavior. If they're relaxing, allow them to! Don't get close (zooms are made for this!) if you have a powerful zoom, there's no reason to get close. If you cause them to move, then you may just miss the best shot. I sat and watched this guy for over an hour, he never moved, just chilling out. If I made him fly off, I MIGHT have gotten a nice wing shot, then again I might not have, but allowing him to stay and be comfortable, I got this one! (and others). So yea, if you see them stirring, getting nervous, back off... let them be! Ad they'll give you want you want eventually! "Adopt the pace of nature: her secret is patience." - Ralph Waldo Emerson
