Location
I took this whilst out on a walk in the countryside. It was an uninspiring, overcast day with rain a constant threat.Time
This was taken around midday-early afternoon. The lack of sunshine meant and abundance of flat, diffused light.Lighting
Only it's featurelessness. I deliberately ensured the sky was completely blown out whilst taking this photograph.Equipment
My trusty old Nikon D700 and Nikon 24-70mm F/2.8 lens (I no longer own either)Inspiration
A pylon is what I consider a 'token' shot - almost everyone has one in their portfolio. But whilst most shoot pylons straight up with legs exiting at each corner, I choose to rotate my camera and concentrate as much on the alignment of the electric wires as the legs. I feel this creates a more dynamic composition.Editing
Processed from RAW, crop and contrast adjustment. In my camera bag
Nikon D800, Tamron 24-70mm F/2.8 VR, Nikon 70-200mm AF-S VRII, SB900 flashgun, Nikon 2.0iii teleconverter.Feedback
Always try to differentiate your shot from the norm. Try a different angle, shoot through foliage, include objects (plane etc). Anything to lift it from the others.
