I took this photo in Kalbarri, Western Australia where there are plenty of opportunities for amateur photographers like myself, to unleash our creativity.Time
The photo was taken at dusk as evening was coming on after a beautiful warm day in July 2014 in winter but because Kalbarri is 6 hours north of Perth, the weather in Winter is temperate.Lighting
I did not need to do anything special as the lighting was perfect. Just a matter of patience for the right moment.Equipment
The only equipment that I used was my Canon 70D, Canon 18-135mm lens and my tripod which was low down to the ground.Inspiration
I was on a four wheel driving trip with my parents to try and find a good fishing spot when I realised the setting was turning into a perfect place for photography. Instead of fishing I spent hours taking photos of the area and when sunset came, it was bliss. I am inspired to take photos such as this for a lasting memory.Editing
I only did minor touch ups as the contrast, colour and shadows were almost perfect.In my camera bag
Only being thin and not terribly tall, my camera bag almost makes me disappear. In my bag, I have my Canon 70D, Canon 18-135mm lens, Tamron 70-300mm F/4-5.6 zoom lens, Sigma 10-22mm wide angle lens, cleaning kit, Camera House VIP membership card, a large variety of filters, and a pathetic mini tripod used only in emergencies. The good quality, big tripod of course, does not fit in my camera case and I lug that along as well, unless my Dad is handy to do the carrying.Feedback
Make sure you use your tripod as you this is a low light photo. You need to keep clicking as you do not want to miss the perfect moment when everything comes together. Also, being alert and ready, means you will not miss opportunities like a pelican which crosses your picture frequently. In this case, the perfect moment came when no pelicans were flying by.
