A Cattle Egret (Bubulcus ibis) steps into the light and gives me the perfect opportunity to capture his beauty. They were introduced in Hawaii in 1959 by the State Board of Agriculture and Forestry. Local ranchers provided funds, hoping the egrets would control flies and other insect pests which bothered cattle. Now, you see them in the fields feasting on insects.
