I was asked to take some photo's for my friends 80th birthday, and the photo was taken at her house.Time
It was around lunch time.Lighting
I took my Bowen Gemini 400 light - only one light as was a small space.Equipment
I used my Nikon D700 with my trusty 50mm 1.8 nikon lens. Settings were ISO 200, f7.1, shutter speed 1/160 with manual exposure. Also used a black back-drop.Inspiration
This pic was a complete 'grabbed opportunity'. My friend hates having her photo taken, but wanted some pics for a celebration album. Half way through the 'shoot', she prayed to god for it to be all over........all done in good humour, but I couldn't resist her 'plea'......clasping her hands together in prayer, saying, please let this ordeal be over soon. She didn't even know I took the shot, until I showed her after and said that it turned out to be my favourite.Editing
I increased the 'luminance' level slightly and use the 'polarise' and 'burn' tool in APERTURE to darken the surrounding, though this was minimal because of the black back drop.In my camera bag
Depends on what I'm taking. I have 4 cameras. A Nikon D700, Nikon D610, a Panasonic Lumix LX100 and my latest addition of a Nikon D500 for wildlife and birds etc. For portraits I use a Nikon 50mm 1.8 and Nikon 85mm 1.8Feedback
This is tricky....all I can say is to be 'camera ready' at all times because you never know when the ultimate shot will appear! I never go out without a camera because you can guarantee something will occur that would never be repeated, a look, an action, an appearance of animal, bird, sunset......the list goes on! Oh, and always check you have a card in your camera!........like the time a sparrow hawk caught some prey, landed on my patio 3 ft from me, posing and there for ages. I was clicking away, looking at back of camera at the shots, only to find out I had no card in the slot. I have never recovered from that! gutted I was.
